What Yoga in Sydney do you offer?

We offer 3 different styles of Yoga in Sydney: The energising and powerful Vinyasa Yoga, to create more harmony within your body, mind and spirit, best summed up as a moving meditation. We also teach Hatha Yoga, which is practiced at a slower pace and concentrates on building strength and stamina by more static postures. To release stress and tension we also teach Yin Yoga, a style that targets the tension in your body’s yin tissue (fascia). With its slower pace and the longer held postures it is very suitable for beginners and offer great benefits for your general wellbeing.

The benefits of regularly practicing Yoga are both physical and mental noticeable. Yoga is good for you to increase your flexibility and muscle strength. Additional benefits are also the possibility to increase your cardio and circulatory health and improve your respiration. In the long-term Yoga can also maintain a balanced metabolism and cause a healthy weight reduction. Apart from the physical benefits, Yoga can also increase your mental well-being by reducing stress. Many symptoms such as pain in your neck/back are, general sleeping problems or headaches can result from too much stress. How many calories does Yoga burn?

The number of calories you can burn with Yoga can vary between 200 – 600 calories per hour. To determine a more accurate number you need to factor in different aspects: whether you’re male or female and especially the type of Yoga you are usually practicing.  The length and intensity of your Yoga session as well as your own weight determine the average number of calories you can burn with Yoga. Depending on the style of Yoga you’re doing, Hatha Yoga usually burns less calories than Vinyasa Yoga. Yin Yoga does often burn less calories than other Yoga styles but is very beneficial for your general flexibility and to release tension in your fascial tissue. Good to know: a person with more weight tends to burn noticeably more calories than a person weighing less, even when both persons engage in the same Yoga session, same length and same intensity.

What is Yin Yoga and what is special about it?

Yin Yoga is very suitable for beginners to easily slip into a yoga routine that suits your pace and individual abilities. As it is performed at a slower pace, it allows you to hold the postures a little longer than other yoga styles. Another essential part of Yin Yoga is the calming effect it has on our nervous system. By altering the way we breath it soothes your body and mind, reducing stress and tension for your benefit.
